A Plastic Ocean: Microplastics

Image result for micro plasticMicro Plastics -  extremely small pieces of plastic debris (less than 5 millimeters) in the environment resulting from the disposal and breakdown of plastic products.

These bits of plastic come from the plastic we throw away, it leaks from the land fill, ends up in the ocean and then the sun's UV rays break it down. But that doesn't mean it goes away, they just break into smaller pieces!

And who do you think eat those smaller pieces? The sea life, and who eats the sea life? Us!

We are eating our own garbage, and in the process the sea life are becoming sick and/or dying because of too much plastic in their systems (not all necessarily from micro plastics, but still!)
