Sadako
This week we will be reading the book Sadako. Sadako is a true story about a young girl who lived in Japan 10 years after the atomic boom was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This week's focus will be on heroes and what qualities make up a hero. Here is a link to the Brain POP video we watched in class today about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as the crane making video if you want to make more cranes at home. WE HAVE TO MAKE 84 AS A CLASS!!

Petronas Towers
The Petronas Towers are pretty amazing in themselves, soaring at a near 450 meters in height, they are still the tallest twin towers standing today. I cannot wait to see your scale drawings of the towers! Here is some more information about the towers if you are interested and want to know more. Did you know that the towers are meant to resemble the letter “M” for Malaysia? Cool huh?

Megadiverse refers to the amount of biodiversity or wildlife present in an area. That means Malaysia has a large number of different species, about 1500 to be exact!

Our Schedule for Malaysia Week!
We will be taking a large focus on Social Studies this week as well as Math as we learn how to scale the Petronas Towers, map Malaysia, etc. There is also no school Friday due to Parent Teacher Interviews. Midterm reports go out this Monday.
